USA Water Ski & Wake Sports (USA-WSWS) is the national governing body for towed water sports in the United States. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, our mission is to Sanction, Develop, and Promote all towed water sports. We aim to foster the growth and development of towed water sports, and we are looking for an organized individual to join this dynamic team.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and proactive Organizational Compliance employee to help USA-WSWS comply with all standards set by the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC), US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), as well as the U.S. Center for SafeSport (USCSS). The ideal candidate will have experience and knowledge of these deliverables and understand their importance. Communications experience (specifically Salesforce email) is also preferred but not required.
Organizational Compliance serves as the primary compliance liaison working with:
- The U.S. Center for SafeSport (USCSS)
- United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA)
- United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC)
- The group’s disciplinary panels, Ethics Committee, Judicial Committee, Grievance and Disciplinary Committee, as well as overseeing audits from oversight organizations such as USCSS and USOPC.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage misconduct complaint reporting and the adjudication process, including intake, appropriate investigatory processes, drafting final investigative reports, mediation, imposition of disciplinary measures, and providing resources.
- Act as a subject matter expert on all relevant policies and procedures to oversee and manage compliance with SafeSport, USOPC, and other regulatory bodies.
- Oversee and manage conflict of interest processes in partnership with the USA-WSWS Ethics Committee.
- Responsible for ensuring timely resolution of USA-WSWS disciplinary cases, with an average resolution time of no more than 90 days per case.
- Review, update, and develop policies and procedures and work closely with staff and the community to ensure best practices are created, communicated, and consistently followed.
- Support local water ski and wake sports clubs in leveraging resources and developing and implementing local SafeSport policies and best practices. Consult with clubs, coaches, and parents on SafeSport questions and concerns.
- Interface with other departments to incorporate appropriate messages and policies into training and programmatic activities.
- Increase awareness through online channels including website and social media. Facilitate and ensure coaches, athletes, parents, and volunteers increase their understanding of SafeSport and ability to create positive culture.
- Lead the administration of USA-WSWS disciplinary complaints in coordination with the Ethics Committee, Judicial Committee, and others as applicable.
- Communicate with the organization’s leadership and involved parties on caseloads, progress, and the status of complaints, investigations, hearings, appeals, and final resolutions.
- Conduct regular data reviews to identify trends and across areas of concern or high risk.
- Work closely with USA-WSWS Legal Counsel on legal matters.
- Manage compliance audits, diversity scorecards, etc. and prepare associated communications to relevant organizations that provide NGB compliance oversight, including but not limited to the USCSS, the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC), and others.
- Serve as USA-WSWS primary liaison with the USOPC, USCSS, USADA, other NGBs, youth organizations, professional organizations, and others in all matters related to SafeSport, Compliance, Anti-Doping, and Background Check issues.
- Monitor database relative to SafeSport Training and background checks and assist membership with troubleshooting issues. This will not be the first point of contact for member inquiries, but inquiries will be forwarded if relevant.
- Plan and bring educational opportunities to USA-WSWS and identify and work with others to raise awareness and advance educational efforts.
- Assist in national and international event operations when our full staff is needed (2-3 events per year).
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, ethics, public policy, advocacy, social work, counseling, children and family studies, or other related fields, or commensurate experience.
- Compliance experience in the context of the USOPC, US Center for SafeSport, US Anti-Doping Agency preferred.
- Must have a high level of interpersonal skills including tact and diplomacy to handle sensitive and confidential situations. Experienced in facilitating group discussions.
- Experience conducting multiple party/complex investigations including interviewing skills, assessments, and recommendations.
- Ability to assess a problem objectively and move through problem solving effectively using discretion and unbiased judgment.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
- Knowledge of child sexual abuse prevention and/or sexual assault prevention a plus.
- Detail-oriented, self-starter, proactive.
- A strong team player with the ability to inspire collaboration, maintain a positive attitude, and demonstrate transparency and integrity in all actions.
- A calm, resourceful problem-solver with exceptional planning and organizational skills and an eye for details who can manage multiple projects and meet strict deadlines under pressure. A proven history of getting things done even in the face of obstacles.
