Jaquess, Smith Win King of Darkness Titles

Regina Jaquess (Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.) and Nate Smith (McCordsville, Ind.) won the women's and men's slalom titles, respectively, at the 2024 King of Darkness, presented by MasterCraft, Oct. 24-26, at the Isles of Lake Hancock Ski Club in Winter Garden, Fla. Finals were held under the lights on Saturday night. The world’s top men’s and women’s slalom skiers and jumpers competed for more than $50,000 in cash prizes.


Jaquess defeated Canada's Whitney McClintock in the women's head-to-head final, scoring 2-1/4 buoys at 41 feet off to McClintock's 2 at 41 off. Smith defeated Jon Travers (Groveland, Fla.) in the men's head-to-head final, scoring 6 at 41 off to Travers' 2 at 41 off.


Great Britain's Joel Poland won the men's jump title with a distance of 230 feet, while Hanna Straltsova (IWWF) won the women's jump title with a distance of 179 feet.
