Great Britain's Jeremy Newby-Ricci won the 55k World Elite Slalom Tour Event (WEST) #7, presented by H2O Pro Shop, June 29-30, at Little Mountain Waterski Club in Maiden, N.C.
55k WEST (World Elite Slalom Tour) is entering its fifth year and has been a huge success. The event was full and featured some of the best 34 mph slalom skiers in the world in a head-to-head finale.
Newby-Ricci defeated Mark Menasci (Gilbert, Ariz.) in the head-to-head final, scoring 1 buoy at 41 feet off to Menasci's 5-1/2 buoys at 39-1/2 feet off. Canada's David Miller, Greg Sund (Stony Brook, N.Y.) and Jason Peckham (Cato, N.Y.) rounded out the top-five placements.
WEST is a fresh SL format for 55k cash prize H2H events. Some of the basic details are:
- 32 skiers in the H2H, CASH PRIZE
- 3L (those who don’t make the H2H get a third round of L)
- 32+ person H2H field featuring one of the most elite 34 mph fields in the world this year

Seth Stisher (Johns Island, S.C.) won the 55k World Elite Slalom Tour Event (WEST) No. 6, Oct. 21-22, at Swiss Waterski Resort in Clermont Florida.
