Nick Leuthauser (Hannawa Falls, N.Y.) won the 55k World Elite Slalom Tour Event (WEST) #8 on Sunday at Swiss Waterski Resort in Clermont, Fla. 55k WEST is in its fifth year. The event featured some of the best 34 mph skiers in the world in an exciting head-to-head format.
Leuthauser defeated Darin Montgomery (Lake Worth, Fla.) in the head-to-head finals, scoring 5 buoys at 38 feet off to Montgomery's 4-1/2 buoys at 38 feet off. Jeremy Newby-Ricci, Jason Peckham and Seth Stisher rounded out the to-five placements.
WEST is a fresh SL format for 55k cash prize H2H events. Some of the basic details are:
