I learned to ski in 1958 at 12 years old. I started jumping that year. I dug for and sold fishing worms to purchase my first pair of tournament jumpers with plate bindings for $30.

I joined the American Water Ski Association in 1966 and skied my first tournament. I also started slalom and tricks that year. By 1975, I was a three-event skier, regular judge, regular scorer, and senior driver.

I still compete and have three sons who compete. One son has three national trick titles and another son has one national trick title. My grandchildren are starting to ski and should be in tournaments in a few years.

Tournament water skiing is one of the best choices I made in my life. The people, experiences, and travel have been priceless.

I am Randy Sharkey and #WeAreWaterSki.
